WORKSHOPS

Xavier’s workshop aims to foster a dialogue with the body and its relationship in space and time, utilizing the body as a conscious instrument and an architectural object with sensorial memory and its own story.

Xavier's methodology encourages connections and awareness within and outside the body through choice-making, directed improvisation, task-based exploration, and composition. This creates space for the sensorial body to emerge and exist, fostering creativity, curiosity, and vitality.

LESSONS (Contemporary Ballet):

Xavier approaches his classes with principles of release technique, yoga, martial arts, and Fletcher/Pilates within traditional dance techniques. The class focuses on injury prevention and strengthening the central core of the body, thus developing internal connections and preparing a neutral body ready for precise dancing.

It concentrates on the spine as a leading moving entity, weight management, use of breath, proper alignment, balance, quality of structural form, coordination, and rhythm. The exercises progress from simple to complex, incorporating circles, lines, spirals, and an awareness of opposition energy. This allows the exercises to move and fall through space consciously, promoting lengthening in every movement.
